Brussels is a large cosmopolitan city where many children attend KUMON to not only improve their academic abilities, but also improve their ability to focus and learn independently.

Our maths and English programmes help children of all ages and backgrounds to further develop their skills and excel in their academics.

For Japanese students, we also offer Japanese and French programmes that allow them to excel in their linguistic abilities, confidently and independently.

By studying the worksheets daily and visiting the study centre twice a week, our students steadily increase their abilities and fluency - building their skills in small, manageable steps. When visiting the study centre, students complete their daily worksheets and are observed and guided by the instructor and a team of assistants. Time spent at the study centre allows the instructor to support your child in their studies and ensure that they are progressing well. Whilst at the study centre, students hand in work that has been completed and marked at home, as well as collecting homeworks for the following days until their next study centre visit. After a few weeks or months, the daily worksheets and centre visits yield positive results, showing true progression amongst the students.

Monthly fee:
Math:  85,- €
English: 90,- €

Please note that our current Belgian instructors speak French, English, and Japanese. Dutch versions of the worksheets are not available.

Yoko Kanno

I started my journey with KUMON over 20 years ago, when I opened my centre. My centre is located near the European School in Uccle and a French high school. As a result, there are many children of varying nationalities who have joined my centre in order to improve their academics using the KUMON method.

Because of the centre’s diversity, I am able to converse and learn about everyone’s culture which I find fascinating! Often, my students are also interested in Japanese culture, which allows me to share my background with them. For me, it's a way to discover the world. My students become my cultural guide and ambassador for their country.

Frequently Asked Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
